Ukraine will assist the United States and its allies in countering Iranian drone technology in the Middle East, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced, offering Ukrainian battlefield expertise in exchange for continued diplomatic and military support against Russia.
Ukraine’s battlefield experience becomes strategic asset
Speaking about the initiative, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine had gained extensive experience in defending against Iranian-designed drones used by Russian forces since the full-scale invasion of the country began in 2022.
Many of these systems, particularly the widely deployed Shahed‑136 drones, have been used by Russia to target Ukrainian infrastructure and cities. Ukrainian air-defence units have developed techniques and technologies to detect, intercept and neutralise these unmanned aerial vehicles.
Zelenskyy said Ukraine would now share this expertise with Western partners confronting similar threats in the Middle East.

According to Zelenskyy, the decision reflects a broader strategic partnership with Western allies supporting Ukraine’s defence against Russia. Kyiv expects that providing technical assistance and operational knowledge will reinforce diplomatic and military backing from the United States and allied nations.
