The commander of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, Viktor Sokolov, is among the over 30 casualties following last week’s attack on the fleet headquarters in Crimea. Ukraine now officially confirms this.
Reports have been circulating for several days that a number of high-ranking Russian military officials lost their lives in the drone attack on Sevastopol in Crimea last Friday. Ukraine is now officially stating that the highest commander in the region is among them.
“The commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet is among the 34 dead in the air strike on the headquarters,” Ukraine’s special forces announced on Twitter and other social media platforms.
According to the statement, the headquarters is so severely destroyed that it is “beyond reconstruction.”
However, all information about such attacks in the war is considered highly uncertain, as it cannot be confirmed by independent sources.
