Semiconductor agreements boost confidence
South Korean and American technology companies agreed to pursue cooperation projects valued at a combined $950 billion during an AI summit in San Francisco.
The agreements included a proposed long-term arrangement under which SK Group would supply high-performance semiconductors to Nvidia and other technology companies.
Samsung Electronics gained 1.6 per cent during early trading, while SK Hynix edged 0.06 per cent higher. Hyundai Motor advanced 0.25 per cent, although Kia declined 1.69 per cent.
Falling oil prices also supported sentiment after the United States paused its attacks on Iran, reducing immediate concerns about energy supplies and inflation.
