Tucker Carlson is bringing his prime-time show to Twitter.

In a video titled “We’re back,” the ousted Fox News host announced his latest venture: a new show on social media.

Carlson called Twitter “the last big one remaining” platform in the world that allows free speech.

“Twitter has long served as the place where our national conversation incubates and develops,” Carlson said during the video. “Twitter is not a partisan site. Everybody is allowed here. And we think that is a good thing.”

Carlson continued by arguing that Twitter has for too long been dominated by new analyzed by “media organizations that are thinly disguised propaganda outfits.”

According to Puck News reporter Dylan Byers, Carlson will forgo at least $25 million to break the non-compete clause. Despite being the top-ranked cable TV host, Fox News ousted Carlson on April 24.

Axios reported on Tuesday evening that Carlson’s side may argue that Fox breached the contract first. Bryan Freedman, Carlson’s lawyer, argued in a letter to Fox that the company broke agreements with Carlson not to use his private communications ” “to take any adverse employment action against him.”

His departure came just days after the company agreed to a more than $787 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems over Fox News’ coverage of the Dominion’s voting machines following the 2020 presidential election. Dominion gathered pages of transcripts illustrating how Carlson and other hosts pushed unfounded conspiracy theories about the company despite repeated pleas to correct the record. In the course of the lawsuit, some of Carlson’s private text messages were released in which the host privately slammed then-President Donald Trump and top Fox News public relations officials.

Per previous reports, Carlson had been discussing working with Elon Musk.

On Twitter, Tuesday evening Musk clarified Twitter’s relationship with Carlson: “I also want to be clear that we have not signed a deal of any kind whatsoever. Tucker is subject to the same rules & rewards of all content creators.”

Representatives for Carlson, Fox Corp., Musk, and Twitter did not immediately respond to Insider’s requests for comment.
