The dilemma of Russian troops – preparing a defence on two fronts
Ukraine’s advance in Zaporizhzhya and northern Luhansk could have great significance for the development of the war. This is what the British defence writes in a situation update on Twitter.
If Ukraine chooses to advance in both regions at the same time, the Russian troops are in an intractable dilemma, and they must now decide in which region to focus their defence.
“A major Ukrainian breakthrough in Zaporizhzhya would seriously weaken the Russian “land bridge” between Rostov and Crimea. If Ukraine instead gains ground in Luhansk, it would further complicate Russia’s goal of “liberating” the region”.
