MSTRpay moves Togo into operational phase together with SOGEMEF, combining local financial strength with a dedicated digital market infrastructure
Stockholm / Lomé, Togo — October 2026 — MSTRpay today announced the activation of its Togo Country Vertical together with SOGEMEF SA, moving the cooperation into active market execution.
A dedicated infrastructure for Togo is now being activated, creating a local environment for customer acquisition, communication, financial-service integration and the progressive introduction of MSTRpay products and services.
The Togo operation starts now.
SOGEMEF brings an established financial-services platform to the cooperation. The institution reports more than 18,000 clients, over 115 employees and seven locations across Togo, with services ranging from savings and business financing to equipment credit, guarantees and Visa payment-card solutions. Together, MSTRpay and SOGEMEF will now begin building the infrastructure and customer channels required to move from partnership into commercial activity.
From Partnership to Execution
The Togo activation forms part of MSTRpay’s wider strategy of converting international partnerships into operational Country Verticals.
Each Country Vertical provides dedicated local infrastructure while connecting the market to the wider MSTRpay ecosystem.
For Togo, the initial phase includes:
• dedicated Togo infrastructure and server environment;
• local customer-acquisition activities;
• integration of SOGEMEF as a key financial-services channel;
• digital communication and market activation;
• merchant and SME engagement;
• preparation for device-financing and MSTRpay product deployment; and
• continuous market data, analytics and optimisation.
“We are moving from agreement to execution,” said Dean Petkanas, CEO of MSTRpay. “SOGEMEF already has the customers, local financial experience and physical presence. MSTRpay brings the technology, international ecosystem and customer-acquisition infrastructure. We are now connecting those pieces and activating Togo.”
A Strong Local Partner
SOGEMEF was established to address a fundamental challenge in the Togolese economy: access to finance for small and micro businesses.
The company became a licensed Système Financier Décentralisé in 2016 and opened its services to the public in 2017. Its stated mission is to improve access to credit for Togolese micro, small and medium-sized businesses through both traditional financing and alternative financial tools. (SOGEMEF SA)
That philosophy closely matches MSTRpay’s own financial-inclusion strategy.
SOGEMEF today offers products including savings accounts, equipment finance, working-capital facilities, invoice financing, guarantees, tontine-based products and its HOTSI Visa card, which provides ATM access and international Visa payment functionality. (SOGEMEF SA)
This gives the partnership an important advantage:
the local financial infrastructure already exists.
The next stage is to connect it with MSTRpay’s technology and customer ecosystem.
Togo — Small Market, Strategic Position
Togo occupies an important position in West Africa.
With approximately 8.6 million people, the country combines a rapidly growing population with the commercial importance of Lomé and its role as a regional gateway within West Africa.
The World Bank reports GDP of approximately US$11.9 billion in 2025, while economic growth has remained strong. (World Bank Open Data)
Togo is also becoming increasingly digital.
World Bank digital-finance data indicates significant mobile-money adoption while also showing that millions of Togolese adults remain outside the formal account-based financial system — precisely the gap that new combinations of mobile technology, local financial institutions and accessible financial products can address. (Digital Finance)
For MSTRpay, this creates an attractive environment in which digital finance can be combined with practical products that immediately improve access to the digital economy.
The Smartphone as an Entry Point
An important element of MSTRpay’s emerging-market strategy is the M5 smartphone programme.
Rather than viewing the smartphone simply as a consumer product, MSTRpay views the device as an entry point into the financial ecosystem.
Through affordable instalment structures, customers can gain access to a connected device and progressively establish a digital financial relationship.
The pathway is straightforward:
Smartphone → Digital Identity → MSTRpay Customer → Financial Services → Transactions
Working together with SOGEMEF, MSTRpay intends to evaluate and progressively introduce relevant products for Togolese consumers, entrepreneurs and SMEs within the appropriate local regulatory framework.
Over time, this may include the MSTRpay wallet ecosystem, MSTRscore™️, device financing, payments, merchant services and other financial products.
Technology Meets Local Distribution
The strength of the model lies in combining two different capabilities.
SOGEMEF brings the local financial infrastructure.
MSTRpay brings the digital infrastructure and international scale.
MSTRpay’s SMAP™️ market-entry framework, SEMIengine™️, MSTRsignal™️, digital acquisition infrastructure and international media distribution can be connected directly to SOGEMEF’s existing customer and business network.
The result is designed to create a measurable commercial funnel:
Market Activation → Customer Acquisition → Device Access → Financial Services → Transactions → Long-Term Customer Relationship
Building Africa Market by Market
The Togo activation is part of MSTRpay’s wider emerging-market expansion strategy.
The company is progressively moving selected markets from partnership development into operational execution, creating dedicated Country Verticals rather than attempting to launch every market simultaneously.
Each activation adds another local node to the same international ecosystem.
Technology is shared.
Products are scalable.
Customer acquisition is measurable.
But execution remains local.
Togo is now entering that operational phase.
The infrastructure is being activated.
Market activities start now.
And MSTRpay and SOGEMEF are building the next stage together.
