Vietnam’s aviation rebound accelerates tourism growth despite global uncertainty

Vietnam’s aviation sector is continuing its strong post-pandemic recovery, helping drive a broader tourism and economic rebound even as the global travel industry faces mounting geopolitical, energy and inflation-related challenges. Passenger traffic in the country rose 16.4% year-on-year during the first quarter of 2026, underlining Vietnam’s emergence as one of Asia’s fastest-growing aviation and tourism markets.

Air travel recovery strengthens economic momentum
The rapid rebound in air travel has become a major contributor to Vietnam’s wider economic expansion. Domestic and international flight demand has increased steadily as tourism, manufacturing investment and business travel continue recovering across Southeast Asia.

Major airports in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and coastal tourism centres such as Da Nang have reported rising passenger volumes throughout the year.
