MSTRpay, the fast-expanding neobank and payment platform active in more than 133 countries, has appointed Mariatou Ceesay as its official Ambassador in The Gambia, reinforcing the company’s strategy of combining financial inclusion with sustainability and cultural engagement.
A dynamic entrepreneur with global reach
Born in The Gambia in 1993, Mariatou Ceesay has built a varied career spanning hospitality, fashion, and cross-border business. Her professional journey began as a chef in the Senegambia tourism corridor before she established a restaurant in Senegal and later launched trade initiatives linking Europe with West Africa. Each step reflected her ability to combine vision with a strong sense of community impact.

Driving sustainable innovation
Ceesay has also led initiatives promoting greener economic models. Through the African Boat Company, she has supported the replacement of traditional wooden fishing boats with aluminium vessels designed to reduce deforestation and contribute to more sustainable coastal economies.
Cultural and social engagement
Beyond business, she is a well-connected figure in the music world, working to strengthen collaboration between West African and Caribbean artists. Her expertise in social media and grassroots networking adds a community-driven dimension to her work, offering MSTRpay a platform to deepen engagement with younger and more digitally connected audiences.
Shared vision with MSTRpay
As Co-Founder of One Heart Gambia and One Heart Senegal, Ceesay has promoted reforestation and climate action projects. These align closely with MSTRpay’s broader environmental and social responsibility goals, positioning her as a natural fit for the company’s regional strategy.
“MSTRpay’s mission is not only financial inclusion but also building sustainable bridges between communities. Mariatou embodies that vision,” said Dominika Pluska, Chief Brand Officer.
Strengthening regional presence
With her entrepreneurial drive and ability to mobilise communities, Ceesay is expected to accelerate MSTRpay’s expansion in The Gambia, Senegal, and West Africa as a whole. Her appointment highlights MSTRpay’s ambition to combine digital financial services with sustainable growth and social innovation.
