Donald Trump has launched a fierce tirade against Bruce Springsteen following pointed remarks by the musician during a concert in Manchester, England. Springsteen, 75, criticised the Trump administration as “corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous” and accused it of undermining civil rights, retreating from humanitarian responsibilities, and aligning with authoritarian regimes.
Trump responded via Truth Social, calling Springsteen “highly overrated”, “dumb as a rock”, and a “dried out prune of a rocker”. He also took aim at Springsteen’s appearance and political activism, mocking his support for President Joe Biden, whom Trump described as “mentally incompetent”.
The clash highlights Trump’s ongoing friction with prominent cultural figures. Springsteen has long opposed Trump’s policies and previously objected to the unauthorised use of his music at political rallies.
The exchange has drawn broader condemnation. At the Cannes Film Festival, actor Pedro Pascal urged artists to “fight back and not let them win”, calling Trump’s rhetoric a threat to artistic freedom.
The feud reflects wider tensions ahead of the 2024 U.S. election, where cultural figures and political voices continue to collide.
