Even Tucker Carlson thinks Trump is too old to be president again
  • Tucker Carlson also thinks Trump and Biden are too old to be president.
  • Carlson agreed with Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy’s point about the two leaders’ ages.
  • Carlson and Portnoy lamented how the nation is run by increasingly old leaders.

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson agreed with Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy‘s point that President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are too old to lead the nation.

“I agree 100%,” Carlson told Portnoy in the latest episode of Carlson’s Twitter show that was posted on Thursday night.

Portnoy, who interviewed Trump at the White House during his presidency, said that while he thinks “both Trump and Biden are too old” that Biden is somehow worse. Portnoy then claimed without evidence that the president has dementia. Biden has previously conceded that he will face questions about his age, but has taken to making jokes about being the oldest president in history.

Biden turned 80 last November. Trump is 77, and before Biden topped him, was the oldest president to ever take office.

The pair also took a shot at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. McConnell has had two moments in recent weeks where he has frozen up while taking questions from reporters. McConnell froze up again on Wednesday. US Capitol physician Brian P. Monahan attributed the episodes to “lightheadedness” also the top Senate Republican recovers from a concussion he sustained during a fall earlier this year. Both Carlson and Portnoy claimed without evidence that McConnell is suffering from strokes.

“How are these people running our country?” Portnoy said. ‘You wouldn’t put these people in control as CEO.”

The age of America’s political leaders has become a renewed topic of conversation amid McConnell’s freezing episodes and Sen. Dianne Feinstein, a California Democrat, appearing to be more confused during official congressional business. Insider previously devoted an entire series of reports, “Red, White, and Gray,” to the growing reality of to the nation’s “gerontocracy.”

As for Trump, Portnoy argued that the former president should have participated in the first GOP presidential debate.

“So to become president, I think it was the right move not to do it,” Portnoy said. “But for the betterment of the country, I think he should have done the debate.”

Carlson pre-recorded an interview with Trump posted five minutes before the candidates took the stage. The former Fox host said he understood why Trump skipped out. Interestingly, Carlson said he was not entirely convinced that Trump could resist the spotlight even as the pair planned their interview.

“If I’m being totally honest, I didn’t really believe him,” Carlson said. “Because it’s Trump, he changes his mind. He’s volatile. Maybe he decides this a spectacle I can’t pass up. We didn’t know.”

Representatives for Biden, Trump, and McConnell did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.
