Two Russian commanders have been killed in Bachmut, the Russian Defense Ministry says.
Commander Vyacheslav Makarov of the 4th Motorized Rifle Brigade and Deputy Commander Yevgeny Brovko of a separate unit were killed while trying to fend off Ukrainian attacks in the contested town of Bachmut, the Defense Ministry said.
During the weekend, there was also information that two Russian helicopters and two fighter planes had crashed, which was also confirmed by
Ministry of Defence.
The information surrounding the events, which took place in the Bryansk region on the border with Ukraine, diverges.
On Telegram, Wagner group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin suggests that it was Russia’s own air defense that accidentally shot down the helicopters and planes.
However, nothing is confirmed from the Russian side. Russian state media reported early on the crashes, without going into further details. Ukraine denies involvement
