After a season completely weighed down by a knee injury, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has formalized the end of his career. At 41, the Swedish striker is officially retiring from sport and it was in tears that the man who notably wore the PSG jersey announced it after the final whistle of the AC Milan-Hellas Verona match.

The entire evening at the San Siro was characterized by Zlatan Ibrahimovic being thanked as he leaves Milan.
But it turned out to be more than just a goodbye to Milan. It is the end of the star’s career, he said after his tearful farewell on the inside.

Greatly praised by the fans
But that wasn’t the only thing. Already before the match, Ibrahimovic was praised, then by Milan’s supporters, in the form of a tifo with the text “Goodbye” that stretched across the entire south side of the San Siro. The star then appeared to become emotional and formed a heart with his hands towards the audience.
The match that followed ended 3–1 to the home side, and Rafael Leao, who scored the decisive goal, celebrated by running up to Ibrahimovic and hugging him.
“Last day as a professional footballer”
During a press conference after the ceremony, Zlatan said that it was his last day as a professional footballer and he thanked the Swedish national team and the teams he played with during his career.
I am happy and proud that my career lasted this long. I want to thank everyone around me who gave me the strength, the adrenaline and the passion to continue. As for the future, we’ll see,
